Softball Recap: Monarch Has No Trouble Against Fairview

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mead, Monarch was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Fairview Knights with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Coyotes haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Abi O'Neill tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

Monarch's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Fairview, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monarch will challenge Longmont at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last five games the Trojans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Fairview, they will head out on the road to square off against Mountain Range at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.4 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
