This season hasn't been kind to the Downtown Magnets Suns, who are still winless after their 13th match. The game between Downtown Magnets and Orthopaedic wasn't particularly close, with Downtown Magnets falling 36-21. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Downtown Magnets of the 40-15 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Orthopaedic was led to victory by Betzabeth Lopez and Kelsy Baez. Lopez scored nine points, while Baez scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baez has scored all season.
Downtown Magnets bumped their record down to 0-13 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.1 points per game. As for Orthopaedic, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
Downtown Magnets will head out on the road to challenge USC-MAE at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. USC-MAE's defense has only allowed 23.8 points per game this season, so Downtown Magnets' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Orthopaedic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Aspire Ollin at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Aspire Ollin comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
