The Bishop LeBlond Eagles will head out to face off against the Notre Dame de Sion Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop LeBlond is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Bishop LeBlond took a 14-run defeat the last time they faced off against Maryville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Spoofhounds 9-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Marah Rocha was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. Rocha was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brynna Miller, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Haven Wright, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Notre Dame de Sion). They blew past Lincoln College Prep 15-5 on Tuesday. The Storm not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 1, 2024 (when they won 19-3).
Scarlett Lind spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits.
At the plate, Addisyn Zachary and Lucy Gromowsky did most of the damage at the plate: Zachary went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Gromowsky went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Grace Baggott was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Bishop LeBlond's record is now 4-5. As for Notre Dame de Sion, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Notre Dame de Sion's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bishop LeBlond hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. It's a different story for Notre Dame de Sion, though, as they've only averaged .206. Will they be able to contain Bishop LeBlond's hitters?
Bishop LeBlond might still be hurting after the 19-10 loss they got from Notre Dame de Sion in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
