Encinal is 2-7 against Bishop O'Dowd since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Jets will head out on the road to square off against the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Bishop O'Dowd took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Encinal, who comes in off a win.
Encinal proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Northgate, sneaking past 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Jets, who have now won three contests in a row.
Kyle Cooke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Encinal's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Evan Furuichi, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Encinal hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northgate struck out ten times.
Skyline hit Bishop O'Dowd with a eight-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dragons fell just short of the Titans by a score of 9-8. That makes it the first time this season the Dragons have let down their home crowd.
Bishop O'Dowd also got a good showing from Charlie Sellman, who didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Sellman a new career-low in walks (zero).
At the plate, Lucas Partrite was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Marco Cecchin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Encinal's record now sits at 9-1. As for Bishop O'Dowd, the loss was their first at home, dropping their record down to 8-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Encinal has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bishop O'Dowd struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Encinal suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Bishop O'Dowd in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Jets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
