Having just played yesterday, the Castro Valley Trojans will get right back to it and host the Piedmont Highlanders at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. Castro Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 444th, while Piedmont is ranked 74th).
On Thursday, Castro Valley suffered a rough 67-41 loss at the hands of Alameda. Castro Valley has not had much luck with Alameda recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite their loss, Castro Valley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nicole Guzman, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Qiomy Espinoza, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Piedmont put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past San Leandro 74-24 at home. The win was familiar territory for Piedmont who now have three in a row.
Castro Valley has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Piedmont, they pushed their record up to 19-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
