The Grossmont Foothillers stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Monte Vista on the road to the tune of 62-20. Given Grossmont's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Monarchs are ranked 767th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grossmont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaliyah Fleming, who scored 12 points. Fleming continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kieren Hayden, who scored six points along with five steals.
Grossmont is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Monte Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-15.
Grossmont won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Torreys at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as La Jolla Country Day comes in on five and the Foothillers on three. As for Monte Vista, they will head out on the road to square off against the Highlanders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Helix focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
