The Chavez Titans lost against the Shafter Generals back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Chavez was dealt a 72-21 defeat at the hands of Shafter. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chavez in their matchups with Shafter: they've now lost seven in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shafter to victory, but perhaps none more so than AnneMarie Piuser, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Kyla Schooley, who scored 18 points.
Chavez's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Shafter, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5.
Chavez will take on McFarland at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. McFarland has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Shafter won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Taft at 6:15 p.m. on January 4th. Taft will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 903rd, while Shafter is ranked 215th).
