After flying high against the Grace Baptist Academy Golden Eagles last Tuesday, the Sale Creek Panthers came back down to earth. Sale Creek took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sequatchie County on Tuesday. Sale Creek has not had much luck with Sequatchie County recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Defeat or not, Sale Creek got some senior leadership from Jackson Moore and Dallas Billingsley. Moore scored six points along with seven assists and five rebounds, while Billingsley. scored 11 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Freeman, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Sequatchie County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Beckham Mckendrick, who scored 27 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mckendrick has scored at least a third of Sequatchie County's points. Another player making a difference was Ryker Terry, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Sale Creek's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Sequatchie County, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sale Creek will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Sequatchie County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bledsoe County at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Bledsoe County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
