After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Putnam City North, Southeast was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Douglass Trojans with a sharp 12-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Brooklyn White made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). White was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Shaylee Ritter was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Roxanne Hopkins, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Southeast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Douglass only posted an OBP of .273.
Southeast pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Douglass, they moved to 9-5-1 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
Coming up, Southeast will head out to take on Edison at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Douglass, they will take on Grant at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
