Pierce hasn't had much luck against Colusa recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bears will look to defend their home field against the RedHawks at 4:00 p.m. Pierce has given up an average of 11.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Pierce is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game on Friday. They came up short against Durham, falling 21-6.
Mikey Acevedo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Dye, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Colusa came up short against East Nicolaus on Friday and fell 13-9.
Rowdy Moore was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Mason Gutierrez and Jace MacKaben stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gutierrez went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while MacKaben went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Gutierrez also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kane Nall, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Colusa's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Pierce, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pierce has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Colusa struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Pierce couldn't quite get it done against Colusa in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Will the Bears have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
