Two dominant guards in Anna Azzara and Carmen Richardson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Spring-Ford Rams's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Colonial Grenadiers at 12:45 p.m. on December 27th. One thing working in Spring-Ford's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
Spring-Ford has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 28 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Phoenixville 60-32 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-13.
Spring-Ford got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaliyah Solliday out in front who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie L pettinelli, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Colonial came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy with a sharp 53-29 victory. Given Colonial's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy is ranked 160th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Colonial's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Richardson, who scored ten points along with four steals. Richardson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Yaneyla Pedraza was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Spring-Ford's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Colonial, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's matchup: Spring-Ford have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 7.1 threes per game. It's a different story for Colonial, though, as they've been averaging only 4.6 threes per game. Given Spring-Ford's sizeable advantage in that area, Colonial will need to find a way to close that gap. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
