Chaska moved up to 93 from 171 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Missota. The Hawks climbed the ranks as a result of a 33-0 win over Red Wing.
Farmington extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating New Prague, 43-12. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Ryan McGuire and Nathan Johnson gave Chanhassen a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. McGuire threw for 109 yards and four touchdowns, while Johnson ran for 148 yards. Teammate McGuire added to the ground attack by rushing for 103 yards.
Josh Botten was the best wideout in the league this week as Shakopee fell to Academy of Holy Angels. Botten tallied five receptions for 89 yards. Kendall Belcher helped Shakopee's passing attack out by catching two balls for 13 yards.
Chaydon O'fallon made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Sabers lost to the Stars. The 6-foot-2 defensive lineman racked up two sacks.
6-foot-0 quarterback Nick Larson of Shakopee is the league leader in passing yards this season with 404. He has also thrown three touchdowns. On the ground, the Storm's Johnson has rushed for 409 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jared Lea. The Chanhassen star has 10 catches for 194 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Farmington takes on second place Chaska. Farmington beat the Trojans last week, while Chaska bested the Wingers.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Mark Froehling's team takes on Lambert Brown's team. The Tigers have allowed 53 points this season, while the Hawks have given up 49. Farmington allowed 12 points last week as it topped New Prague.
Academy of Holy Angels was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, Ray Betton's team defeated Jody Stone's team 42-34.
