In what's become a running theme this season, the Birmingham Patriots gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 82-45 victory over Chatsworth at home. Winning may never get old, but Birmingham sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Birmingham's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Samantha Velasquez, who scored ten points along with six assists and six steals. Velasquez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Zoee Mitchell, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Birmingham has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Chatsworth, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Birmingham will take on El Camino Real at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Camino Real is on a four-game streak of home wins, Birmingham a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Chatsworth on the road again on Friday and play against Granada Hills Charter at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Granada Hills Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
