De La Salle barely beat San Ramon Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans blew past the Wolves 10-0 on Friday. Considering the Spartans have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
De La Salle got a great performance from Graham Schlicht as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. Schlicht has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, De La Salle let Antonio Castro and Tyler Spangler run wild. Castro went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Spangler went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Spangler has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jacob Gray, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
De La Salle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Ramon Valley only managed two hits.
De La Salle pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for San Ramon Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. De La Salle will challenge College Park at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
