Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Las Cruces Bulldawgs at 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Manzano scored an imposing 60 points on Wednesday, Valley still came out on top. Valley took their matchup against Manzano 73-60. Valley's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Valley can attribute much of their success to Giana Roybal, who scored 23 points along with five assists and three steals. The matchup was Roybal's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayton Gomez, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Las Cruces earned a 63-52 win over Cleveland on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given Las Cruces' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Cleveland is ranked 20th).
Janessa Navarrete was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with eight steals and six assists. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for her. Aaliyah Morales was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Valley's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Las Cruces, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
