It was a good run, but the Lancaster Red Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 60-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Peninsula Catholic.
Despite the loss, Lancaster still got an impressive performance from Troy Henderson, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Henderson is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Kevontrez Bunns was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Peninsula Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was EJ Joyner out in front who scored 19 points along with six assists and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Wynn, who scored 17 points along with four steals and two blocks.
Lancaster's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2. As for Peninsula Catholic, they pushed their record up to 14-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lancaster will take on Colonial Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colonial Beach is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Peninsula Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Peninsula Catholic is ranked 29th).
