Widefield and Frederick squared off in some playoff action  on Friday, but Widefield had to settle for second. They took  a  12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Eagles. The pitching woes were  uncharacteristic for the Gladiators, who until this  matchup were averaging 3.89  runs allowed.
 Widefield got a big performance out of  Evelyn Ibarra, who  went 3-for-4 with two  runs and one  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Mia Hoffpauir, who  went 2-for-4 with two  RBI and one  run.
Widefield's defeat dropped their record down to 23-4. As for Frederick, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record  this season.
 Widefield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Frederick, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  contest,  a  10-4  loss against Holy Family on the 24th.
