On Saturday, Cosumnes Oaks needed a bit of extra time to put away Burbank. They had just enough and edged out the Titans 8-7. While the Wolfpack didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Anderson Vo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Michael Bourtayre was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 1-for-4. Massimo Jimenez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove hadn't done well against Elk Grove recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Pleasant Grove had just enough and edged out Elk Grove 5-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Justin Dougan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Liam Bantau, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Varin Verma, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Cosumnes Oaks pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-6.
Pleasant Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Cosumnes Oaks has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Pleasant Grove, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Cosumnes Oaks keep running through batters, or will Pleasant Grove buck the trend?
Cosumnes Oaks suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Pleasant Grove in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Cosumnes Oaks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
