There's no place like home for the Johnstown Christian Bluejays, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 51-40 victory over Ferndale on Monday. This was payback for Johnstown Christian, who suffered a 50-30 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Despite the loss, Ferndale still got an impressive performance from Deajah Chatman, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Chatman scored a full 60% of Ferndale's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Maisen Sechrengost, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Ferndale struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Johnstown Christian now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Ferndale, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johnstown Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against DuBois Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 9th. As for Ferndale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Conemaugh Township at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
