The Carmel Padres will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the North Monterey County Condors at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Carmel is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Carmel suffered a tough 50-25 defeat at the hands of Salinas. While losing is never fun, Carmel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1218th, while Salinas is ranked 490th).
Carmel's defeat came about despite a quality game from Savanna Radowicz, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lillian Grundy, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
North Monterey County can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on December 12th. They skirted past Greenfield 41-39.
Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for North Monterey County, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3.
Everything came up roses for Carmel against North Monterey County when the teams last played back in December of 2021 as the team secured a 72-35 win. With Carmel ahead 39-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.
