The Augusta Christian Lions will square off against the Northside Christian Academy Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Augusta Christian has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 14.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither Augusta Christian nor Georgia School for Innovation & Classics made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Lions fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by just one run.
Augusta Christian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Duckworth, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double. Another was Jordan Sease, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Northside Christian Academy never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Oakbrook Prep with a sharp 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Whit Craft and Luke Bohnsack made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Craft pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bohnsack tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Northside Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 6-7 otherwise. At bat, Craft got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, while Bohnsack went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Cade McNeill and Easton McCutchan did most of the damage at the plate: McNeill went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while McCutchan went 1-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Northside Christian Academy is undefeated when McCutchan posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Will Spotts was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Northside Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakbrook Prep only posted an OBP of .000.
Northside Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Augusta Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.
