Eastlake is 10-0 against Newport - Bellevue since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Eastlake Wolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Newport - Bellevue Knights at 5:30 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Eastlake couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell to Sumner 47-43.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Sofia Aluas, who scored 15 points along with 6 steals. Brooke Mccartney was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Meanwhile, Newport - Bellevue pushed their score all the way to 55 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hazen.
Despite their defeat, Newport - Bellevue saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Portia Polo, who scored 25 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Polo scored a full 45.5% of Newport - Bellevue's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Roberts, who scored 17 points.
Eastlake's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Newport - Bellevue, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Eastlake took their win against Newport - Bellevue when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 65-39. Will Eastlake repeat their success, or does Newport - Bellevue have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
