Niobrara/Verdigre and Wausa are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Wausa Vikings on Monday. Niobrara/Verdigre is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Thursday, Niobrara/Verdigre was beaten by Crofton 59-17. Niobrara/Verdigre was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-10.
Meanwhile, Wausa's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Wynot on the road and fell 76-34. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wausa has scored all season.
Despite their defeat, Wausa saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cashe Carlson, who scored nine points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Schindler, who scored eight points.

Niobrara/Verdigre took a serious blow against Wausa in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 61-23.
