Baseball Recap: Pinecrest Academy Makes It Six in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Pinecrest Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against the Hearts Academy Panthers on Tuesday as the Pinecrest Academy Paladins made off with an 11-1 victory. The Paladins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.

Mathew Sime made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam McCavitt, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Lucas Miles also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Pinecrest Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hearts Academy only posted a batting average of .188.

Pinecrest Academy pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hearts Academy, they moved to 6-2 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Pinecrest Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity Classical at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pinecrest Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Trinity Classical's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hearts Academy, they will head out to face off against Central Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
