The San Domenico Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Stuart Hall Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
San Domenico lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Lick-Wilmerding, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Panthers never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Oliver Swain made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. San Domenico is 3-1 when Swain posts two or more runs, but 5-10 otherwise.

Swain wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alex Brook, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave Brook a new career-high in hits (two). Colin Falconer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Stuart Hall ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top against Marin Academy by a score of 9-4. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 8, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Like San Domenico, Stuart Hall also got a great game from a two-way player: Damian Talavera. He struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Talavera was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on William Malko, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Alex Heinicke, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
San Domenico is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Stuart Hall, their record now sits at 14-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. San Domenico has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Stuart Hall struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
San Domenico might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from Stuart Hall in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
