Panthers storylines
* Parkview is the defending national champion by every major baseball rankings service, including MaxPreps, after going 34-2 last year and winning the Georgia Class 6A state championship for the second time in less than five seasons. The Panthers will get a true test at the Perfect Game High School Showdown in early March, where they could meet Oxford (Miss.), the preseason No. 1 team.
* The Panthers had one of the top home-run hitting teams in the nation last year with 37 round-trippers. A total of 18 of those home runs return this year, including 11 by Austin Biggar, who figures to be one of the top catching prospects in the country.
* The road to another Class 6A state championship this year figures to be a difficult one. Teams from Walton and Pope figure to be among the top 25 teams in the nation this year and other teams like North Gwinnett and Collins Hill could provide stumbling blocks during the postseason.
