The result was an unpleasant reminder to Millard West of the 40-39 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Millard West lost, one person who can't be blamed is Reece Carson. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Cade Walker, who scored nine points.
Creighton Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Jones, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 0 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Dillon Claussen was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Millard West has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Creighton Prep, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5.
Millard West will take on Millard South at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Millard West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. As for Creighton Prep, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Rockhurst at 3:00 p.m. on February 10th.
