In what's become a running theme this season, the Riverview Raiders gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 50-25 margin over Monessen. Winning may never get old, but Riverview sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Riverview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabel Chaparro out in front who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katerina Tsambis, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Despite the loss, Monessen still got an impressive performance from MyAsia Majors, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Monessen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverview only pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Riverview pushed their record up to 14-5 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Monessen, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverview will take on the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monessen, they will be playing at home against the Maples at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mapletown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 666th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 318th).
