The Andover Huskies entered their tilt with the Elk River Elks with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Andover took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 65-32 victory over Elk River. The result was nothing new for Andover, who have now won eight contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Chase Pemberton was a one-man wrecking crew for Andover as he threw for 329 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per attempt, and also punched in three touchdowns on the ground. Dmario Davenport was another key contributor, rushing for 125 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Several Elks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Schmidt, who rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also picked up 47 receiving yards. Schmidt was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Carsyn Kleffman, who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Andover's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Elk River, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Andover will square off against Robbinsdale Armstrong at TBD on Saturday. Robbinsdale Armstrong will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Andover is ranked third). Elk River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
