It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Lincolnton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They slipped by the Shelby Golden Lions 35-34. The victory was familiar territory for the Wolves, who have now won seven games in a row.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lincolnton's defensive line and their eight sacks. Shelby's QB won't forget Jalaythan Mayfield anytime soon given he sacked him four times. Caedon Cash was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles.
Despite the loss, Shelby still got an impressive performance from Jaylen Tate, who rushed for 89 yards and four TDs, and also picked up 54 receiving yards.
Lincolnton's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Shelby, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.
