Oaks Christian and Westlake are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Oaks Christian Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Westlake Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oaks Christian is hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Oaks Christian suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. Their rough 63-37 loss to Calabasas might stick with them for a while.
Despite their loss, Oaks Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jae Bradley, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Andrea Woodward was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Westlake had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 63-48 win over Newbury Park.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westlake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mathis Dritz, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 18 rebounds. Dritz is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Swanson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Oaks Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Westlake, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Oaks Christian couldn't quite finish off Westlake in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 and fell 46-44. Can Oaks Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
