The Maxwell Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They lost to Perkins County at home by a decisive 54-35 margin. Maxwell has not had much luck with the Plainsmen recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madelyn Flock, who scored six points along with two steals. Kristyn Cheek was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Perkins County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Libby Cole, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Madison Potts, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Maxwell has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Perkins County, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Maxwell will head out on the road to take on the Sailors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Perkins County, they will be playing at home against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
