The Jefferson-Morgan Rockets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 59-33 walloping at the hands of Monessen. While losing is never fun, Jefferson-Morgan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 673rd, while Monessen is ranked 287th).
Monessen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but MyAsia Majors led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Madison Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Jefferson-Morgan's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Monessen, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing West Greene the next time they take the court. Monessen will host West Greene at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Jefferson-Morgan will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
