The Montgomery Vikings will head out to take on the Analy Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Saturday, Montgomery came up short against Maria Carrillo and fell 9-5. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Pumas recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Analy waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Prospectors with a sharp 18-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Wes Bush was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Bush was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs. Analy is undefeated when Bush posts two or more runs, but 5-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Analy let Hunter Thomas and Donnie Rinkor run wild. Thomas went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Rinkor got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Thomas has become a key player for Analy: the team is 10-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Benny Heath was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Analy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Analy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Montgomery, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
Montgomery might still be hurting after the 12-3 defeat they got from Analy when the teams last played on April 2nd. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
