The Mark Twain Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 67-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monroe City. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Mark Twain lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sam Northcutt. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Northcutt scored a full 38.3% of Mark Twain's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Dotson, who scored ten points.
Mark Twain's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Monroe City, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mark Twain will square off against Bowling Green at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Monroe City, they will head out on the road to face off against North Shelby at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
