The Ripon Christian Knights lost against the Escalon Cougars back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Ripon Christian took a 44-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. Ripon Christian has struggled against the Cougars recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maddie Yonker, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Yonker is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kara Kessler, who scored 11 points.
Escalon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sammy Lang, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Lang is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Arianna Velasco was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Ripon Christian has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Escalon, their victory bumped their record up to 21-2.
Ripon Christian will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Livingston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Thursday. As for Escalon, they will head out on the road to square off against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ripon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 768th, while the Cougars are ranked 170th).
