The regular season is complete for the Sac-Joaquin Section and for most of the North Coast season with a week to go for the Central Coast and Northern sections. The NCS pushed back its regular-season a week to accommodate schools affected by the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County.

Update: The Spartans routed once-ranked Clayton Valley Charter 56-14, scoring 35 in the first quarter and led 49-0 at the half and will gain the No. 1 D-I seed once this section finishes its entire regular-season schedule. De La Salle's unbeaten streak against NorCal teams north of Fresno is 307 (with two ties). De La Salle also this season has a 42-27 win over No. 2 Folsom. The Spartans are 392-5-2 against NorCal opponents since 1984. They have won 27 consecutive North Coast Section crowns and have been to a record 12 successive CIF State finals (those games started in 2006) and 10 in succession in the elite Open Division.

2. (2) Folsom, (9-1)Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Sierra Foothill
Coach: Paul Doherty
Update: The two-time defending CIF State Division I-AA champion Bulldogs, the top-ranked team in this section by The Sacramento Bee, beat Del Oro 62-21 as
CJ Hutton caught four touchdown passes.
Jacob Reithmeier tossed six scoring strikes. Folsom extended its league winning streak since 2011 to 47 (and 40 in the SFL) to go with a 43-game winning streak against section teams (and 96 of 98) and gained the No. 1 seed in the D-I playoffs with an opening bye. The loss this season was 42-27 to De La Salle and Folsom's lone loss last season was to De La Salle. Folsom is 135-11 this decade with four CIF State banners, seven section titles, nine league titles and two 14-0 teams that lost to De La Salle in the since-dropped NorCal Open Division finals in 2012 and 2013.

Update: Two time CIF Northern California winners in recent years, Serra beat Valley Christian 10-0 with backup quarterback

Daylin McLemore (out for the season with an injury) to inch close to the program's first 10-0 regular season. The Padres posted early big wins over St. Mary's, (56-28), Pittsburg (58-21) and Menlo-Atherton (38-13).

4. (4) Valley Christian (San Jose), 8-1Section: Central Coast
League: West Catholic Athletic
Coach: Mike Machado
Update: The defending CCS Open Division II champions lost to rival Serra 10-0 in what amounts to the league championship game. A big early win was 23-13 over Wilcox. There could be a playoff rematch with Serra.

5. (6) Pittsburg, 9-1Section: North Coast
League: Bay Valley
Coach: Vic Galli
Update: The Pirates beat rival Antioch 42-41 in the annual Big Little Game, stopping a late 2-point conversion attempt to lock up the league championship. An early big win was over Wilcox 35-31 in addition to a 24-21 win over Liberty. The Pittsburg loss was to Serra. Pittsburg is the last NorCal program to defeat De La Salle, doing so in the 1991 North Coast Section finals.

Update: The defending CIF State 1-A champion Lions rolled Heritage 50-6 as
Jay Butterfield passed for 368 yards and five touchdowns. The loss was to Pittsburg 24-21. Earlier wins were over Cardinal Newman, Clayton Valley Charter, Vacaville and Oakdale.

League: Capital Valley

Update: The Tigers beat Roseville 21-14 to extend their league winning streak to 41 and regular-season streak to 38 and earned the No. 3 seed in the D-I playoffs with an opening bye. Earlier big wins included Elk Grove and Del Oro.

League: De Anza

Update: The defending CIF State 3-A champion Chargers rolled Santa Clara 63-7 as
Isaiah Flores ran for two scores and
Aaron Ah Sing returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown to inch closer to the league title. One loss was 35-31 to Pittsburg and the other was to Valley Christian 23-13.

League: Sierra Foothill

Update: The Trojans beat Elk Grove 30-21 in a rare nonleague game to cap the regular season as

Justin Lamson had big games. Oak Ridge gained the No. 2 seed in the D-I playoffs opposite of Folsom, which beat the Trojans 36-33 earlier this season, and open with a bye.

League: North Bay
Coach: Paul Cronin
Update: The Cardinals beat Maria Carrillo 49-0 to inch closer to the league championship in a game played Monday due to smoke-clogged air. The loss was 17-13 to Liberty. The lone loss a year ago was to Liberty. This program in the 1970s had the state record for consecutive wins at 47.

League: Capital Athletic

Update: Ranked fourth by The Sacramento Bee behind Folsom, Inderkum and Oak Ridge, the Cougars beat Vista del Lago 21-7 to win the league title behind stars

Zeke Burnett in locking up the No. 1 seed in the D-III playoffs with an opening bye. Coming off a 13-1 section Division III championship season, the big early win was 32-7 over Cosumnes Oaks, which later upset ranked Monterey Trail, 36-35. The losses are to state and national powers Vista Murrieta and Chandler (Ariz).

League: Delta
Coach: Steve Smyte
Update: The Blue Devils beat Cosumnes Oaks 27-14 to secure the program's first league title since 1995, also the last time they won a playoff game. This is the team's best record since going 10-1 in 1983 and it vaults the program into the D-I playoffs. The loss was to Elk Grove 42-35 in a Delta opener.

13. (18) St. Mary's (Stockton), 6-4Section: Sac-Joaquin
League: Tri-City
Coach: Tony Franks
Update: The Rams beat rival Lincoln 27-14 to win the league championship, last losing a league game in 2006, to gain the No. 4 seed in the D-I playoffs. St. Mary's has endured one of the toughest schedules of any program on the West Coast with losses to Pittsburg, Serra, Mission Viejo and De La Salle. The program has had teams win 12, 12, 11, 11, 12, 10, 14 and 11 games since 2007.

Update: The Wolf Pack lost to Davis 27-14 and gained the No. 2 seed in the D-II playoffs with an opening bye. An early big win was over Monterey Trail, that school's lone loss.

Update: The Mustangs blasted McClatchy 57-0 to repeat as league champions and gained the No. 5 seed in the D-I playoffs. The Mustangs lost to Folsom in the section Division I finals in 2018 to cap a 12-1 season.

16. (16) McClymonds (Oakland), 8-0Section: Oakland
League: OAL
Coach: Michael Peters
Update: The Warriors of the East Bay beat Oakland High 68-0 in posting yet another league shutout, last allowing any points in league in 2017. An early big win was 19-7 over Marin Catholic. McClymonds has won two CIF State titles since 2016 with a 12-0 team in 2010, a 12-1 team in 2015 and going 12-2 a year ago.

17. (17) Marin Catholic (Kentfield), 9-1Section: North Coast
League: Marin County
Coach: Mazi Moayed
Update: The Wildcats beat Tamalpais 56-7 to lock up the league championship and will gain a high seed when this section completes its regular-season schedule. The loss was 19-7 to McClymonds. Marin Catholic teams have had teams go 12-1, 14-1, 14-2, 13-1, 12-2 and 12-1 this decade.

League: Central California
Coach: Kevin Navarra
Update: The Thunder beat Atwater 14-13 to lock up the league crown and secure the program's third 10-0 regular season this decade and the No. 3 seed in the D-III playoffs. BC opens with a bye.

Update: The defending CIF 3-AA state champions were awarded a forfeit against Aragon, which declined to play due to low roster numbers. The losses were to No. 2 Folsom 47-0, to Utah power East 49-20 after being up 20-7 and to No. 3 Serra 38-13 at Levi's Stadium.

Update: The Wildcats were idle. The loss was to Wilcox. The program has won 10 or more games 14 times since 2000.

League: Freelance
Coach: Rick Prinz
Update: The Bobcats beat Enterprise 48-26 to cap a dream regular season and awaits its playoff seeding and opponent. This is the feel-good story in all of Northern California as wildfires devastated the town of Paradise but not its spirit. Paradise has five shutouts and has allowed 7 or fewer points in three other games. Coach Prinz has another powerhouse brewing and has since 2004 produced six 11-1 teams and two 10-2 teams.

Update: The Thunder went 2-8 last season and 7-3 this one and secured the top seed in the D-II playoffs with an opening bye. One SFL win was by six over Oak Ridge, the No. 2 seed in D-I.
