Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2025 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Roman Voss of
Jackson County Central (Jackson) is the 2025 MaxPreps Minnesota High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound senior quarterback led the Huskies to a 13-0 record and second straight Class AA state title.
For the season, Voss threw for 1,902 yards and 21 touchdowns to go with 1,893 yards on the ground and 30 more scores. He broke the school record for most rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in a season.
Defensively, Voss contributed 18 tackles and an interception that he returned for a touchdown.
His 52 total touchdowns and 208 points accounted for this season were also school records.
