Even though the Central Spartans have not done well against the Calexico Bulldogs recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Central walked away with a 48-37 win over Calexico. For Central, this counts as revenge for the 35-28 loss Calexico walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Central found their leader in underclassman Maryanne Barrett, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barrett has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya McClain, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Central's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Calexico, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Palo Verde Valley at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. Palo Verde Valley is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Calexico, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Imperial at 7:00 p.m. Imperial will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
