After five games on the road, Starmount is heading back home. They will take on the Elkin Buckin' Elks at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, Starmount came up short against the Granite Bears and fell 46-34. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Starmount in their matchups with the Granite Bears: they've now lost three in a row.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Jordon Dobson and Mario Revels. Revels had a solid game and scored 12 points along with two steals. Meanwhile, Dobson did his best for the losing side, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Elkin's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 12th straight defeat. They were outmatched by Surry Central on the road and fell 76-48. While losing is never fun, Elkin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 599th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 149th).
Starmount has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Elkin, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-15.
Starmount strolled past the Buckin' Elks in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 58-40. Does Starmount have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buckin' Elks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
