The Portage Mustangs can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Wednesday. They blew past Northern Cambria 56-21 on the road. The team accrued 45 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.
Portage was led to victory by Alex Chobany and Jenna Burkett. Chobany scored ten points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Burkett scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Chobany has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Bednarksi, who scored three points along with 11 rebounds and five assists.
The win (which was Portage's fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Northern Cambria, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Coincidentally, Portage and the Colts will both be playing the Blue Jays the next time they take the court. Portage will head out to face the Blue Jays at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, while the Colts will head out to face them at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
