The Jefferson-Morgan Rockets lost against the Avella Eagles back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Jefferson-Morgan was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 40-39 to the Eagles. Jefferson-Morgan has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Avella to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Frank, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Frank has scored at least a third of Avella's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Strope, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Jefferson-Morgan's defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-14. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.6 points per game. As for Avella, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson-Morgan will take on the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Avella will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Gators at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th.
