The Richmond Red Devils put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against New Castle by a score of 46-37. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Richmond has scored all year.
It was another big night for Cedric Horton, who scored 23 points. The game was his 13th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Carpenter, who scored eight points.
New Castle lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mason Miller, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Tucker Griffin, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Richmond's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.9 points per game. As for New Castle, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Richmond won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against McCutcheon at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. McCutcheon is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. New Castle won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Connersville at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Hopefully Connersville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
