Arrowhead Christian will head out on the road to challenge Rancho Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Arrowhead Christian has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Arrowhead Christian's tournament run continued when they took on St. Bernard on Wednesday. The Eagles took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.
Aiden Polanco made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Kenny Shahin was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Rancho Christian waltzed into their contest on Thursday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory.
The result came thanks to Jake Brande's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Spencer Horner was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Rancho Christian's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Arrowhead Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Arrowhead Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rancho Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Arrowhead Christian came up short against Rancho Christian when the teams last played back in March, falling 9-4. Can Arrowhead Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
