The Freeport Yellowjackets lost against the St. Joseph Spartans back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Freeport was the victim of a rough 71-45 loss at the hands of St. Joseph. While losing is never fun, Freeport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 467th, while St. Joseph is ranked 131st).
St. Joseph's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anna Kreinbrook, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Kreinbrook set a new season high mark in assists with seven. Another player making a difference was Julie Spinelli, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Freeport's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. As for St. Joseph, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Freeport will take on Knoch at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Burrell at 6:30 p.m. on December 30th. Burrell is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
