Sutter is 0-5 against Colfax since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Sutter Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Colfax Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Sutter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 643rd, while Colfax is ranked 36th).
Last Friday, Sutter lost to Bear River on the road by a decisive 53-39 margin. Sutter has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sutter's loss came about despite a quality game from Torrence Harter, who dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 16 rebounds, and ten blocks. Harter is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Reet Bains, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Colfax had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.7 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Monday. They blew past Bear River 60-37. Colfax has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.
Sutter has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Colfax, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Sutter took a serious blow against Colfax in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 69-31. Thankfully for Sutter, Gabriella Biittner (who scored 17 points along with six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
