If the Conestoga Christian Cougars were riding high off their 41-13 takedown of Coventry Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Conestoga Christian was outmatched by Linville Hill on the road and fell 55-12. Conestoga Christian has struggled against Linville Hill recently, as their game on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Conestoga Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Linville Hill racked up 16 assists.
Ellie Rishel was her usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals for Linville Hill. Rishel continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Desiree Smucker, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Conestoga Christian dropped their record down to 2-14 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Linville Hill, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conestoga Christian will square off against Alliance Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Conestoga Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Thursday. As for Linville Hill, they will head out on the road to take on High Point Baptist Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. High Point Baptist Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
