The Fort Calhoun Pioneers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Nebraska City Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Fort Calhoun's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 38-26 to Arlington. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fort Calhoun has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Fort Calhoun saw an underclassman step up: Ansley Elofson scored 13 points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Nebraska City was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 47-41 to the Cougars. Nebraska City has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Fort Calhoun's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Nebraska City, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Fort Calhoun strolled past the Pioneers when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 42-24. Will Fort Calhoun repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
