Dos Palos is 8-2 against Coalinga since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Broncos are taking a road trip to take on the Horned Toads at 4:00 p.m.
Dos Palos is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Kerman just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 23-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Broncos have suffered since March 31st.
Dos Palos saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chaz Merrell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Coalinga waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Horned Toads, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Cooper Wagner was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those hits were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jacen Ojeda, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Coalinga was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Dos Palos now has a losing record of 13-14. As for Coalinga, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dos Palos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Coalinga struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dos Palos skirted past Coalinga 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
