The Nevada Union Miners had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged Roseville out 41-38.
Nevada Union found their leader in underclassman Katie Enos, who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Elle Conway, who scored 7 points.
Roseville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kalani Pham, who scored 17 points. The match was Pham's third in a row with at least ten points. Kira Cano was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals.
Nevada Union's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Roseville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Nevada Union will head out on the road to face off against Granite Bay at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Roseville, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Armijo at 7:00 p.m.
